Why Gold Filled Clasp Is The Best Choice For Making Vintage Style Clasps?
It has been observed in the recent years that the demand of Gold filled findings has escalated considerably. C Clasp
Usually made from plastic or some other metal a C clasp displays the shape of English letter “c”. The C gets attached to the supporting pin and locks the jewelry article. Mostly antique brooches have been seen to have such clasps. C clasps were mainly used before 1900. So, if a jewelry piece has a C clasp it is a pure evidence of the fact that the ornament is no less than 100 years old and therefore, is an original antique.
Safety Clasp
Safety clasp, also recognized with the name of rollover clasp, is considered to be the successor of the C clasp. It replaced the famous C clasp in the year 1910. Its functioning is almost the same as the C clasp with the only difference that it rolls over the supporting pin in order to connect the two ends firmly. It is much more strong, safe and sturdier than the old C clasp. Although, the safety clasps were invented and used during the primordial days, they are still applied to many of the modern day jewelry articles.
Trombone Clasp
As the name suggests, a trombone clasp resembled a trombone in its movement while in use. A piece of metal would slide in and out imitating the similar fashion as of a trombone. The piece that slides secures the safety pin and locks the ornament. These types of clasps were highly popular in Europe.
Although all these three types of clasps had been invented in the past during the ancient times, many of today’s clasps are greatly inspired by them. Generally these techniques of locking are used in a gold filled clasp because of its user friendliness.
