What can I do to update this kitchen on a tight budget?
I’m in the process of closing on my first home and I’m starting to plan what I want to do to make it my own. We don’t want to spend much right now, but are willing to do some quick, inexpensvie fixes like paint, removing wallpaper, changing small fixtures, staining or painting cabinets…just not sure what to do! What’s your advice? What specific colors do you suggest? I like a shabby chic style…by the way the counter tops are kind of gray and we won’t be changing out any appliances right now.
If you like shabby chic, I think once you remove that red and the border near the ceiling, you can have that look. You basically want to keep it bright and uncluttered but with touches of fun elements. There’s already yellow on the one wall…I would keep that, and maybe add some light blue on the other walls (there’s so many different colors of light blue), something that will compliment the yellow nicely. The blue and yellow, with some touches of white will give you shabby chic. Since you don’t want to spend, don’t worry about your cabinets, they are fine. The grey counters are perfect…all you need are some new fixtures, some white glass vases, a white or blue bowl w/seashells in it, and some scented candles, and you’re done!! Oh and maybe a nice lacy curtain by the window too.
